Highlights from the 2021 healthcare report on severance and workforce transition include:

  • 66% of employers who made changes to severance benefits did so to improve the employee experience, 7% higher than the average of all other industries
  • 15% offer a year or more of salary as part of the severance package, higher than any other industry surveyed
  • the No. 1 retention incentive used to retain employees when a layoff is imminent: more flexible work arrangements (53%)
  • 56% provide outplacement services, yet 39% don’t conduct exit interviews following a layoff to better understand employee experiences
